SPSA Health and Dental Plan
The SPSA has worked to develop and implement a reasonably priced health and dental insurance plan. Full or part-time students in a core program that is 12 weeks or more in length are automatically enrolled. To verify if you have been enrolled in the program or to see if you are eligible to opt in, see the SPSA Office.
Information regarding the student’s eligibility and enrollment in the Health and Dental Plan can only be shared with that student. Information cannot be shared with parents, teachers, and/or providers unless explicitly authorized by the student.

Validation Period
There is a 45-day validation period from the start of the term. During this time, you will have to pay out of pocket for all eligible Health and Dental expenses and keep the receipts. After the enrollment process is complete, you will be able to submit online claims for reimbursement and your benefits card will be automatically activated.
The validation period applies only to new students, students who apply for re-enrolling and family members added to the plan. Returning eligible students may continue using the health and dental plan without disruption.
Opting Out
If you already have comparable health and dental coverage you can choose to opt out of the SPSA Plan. You only have 30 days from your program start date to opt out. To do so, go to https://www.mystudentplan.ca/saskpolytech/en/forms, the SPSA Office in Moose Jaw, Prince Albert, Regina or Saskatoon or email spsahealth@spsa.ca.
Opting In/Adding Dependents
If you are not automatically enrolled in the Health and Dental Plan but would like to access coverage or if you previously opted out of the plan and have lost your comparable coverage or a lifestyle change occurred, you may be eligible to opt-in. The addition of a spouse and/or dependents may also be an option. Various fees apply and can be provided to you by the SPSA Staff.
